CAROLINE is a painting about coming home—to creativity, to intuition, and ultimately, to myself.

Created with professional acrylics on a 10" × 10" wood panel with 1.5" gallery- wrapped edges, this piece was born from a moment of frustration. After completing a painting workshop and experimenting with new techniques, I found myself drifting away from the way I naturally create. I became consumed with technical details and the quiet question so many artists wrestle with: Will people like my work?

I realized I had stopped creating from a place of joy and had begun creating from a desire for approval. Feeling disconnected from my own voice, I scribbled over the painting I had been working on, walked away from the easel, and opened my art journal instead. There, I created without expectation or pressure.

The following day, I returned to the discarded wood panel and transformed it into Caroline, a piece full of joyful pink blooms, vibrant yellows, and fresh washes of blue.
